El Calafate is the host city of tourists of all nationalities who arrive motivated to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier and  other beauties that makes The Los Glaciares National Park, a Natural Heritage of the world (UNESCO).

Located 80 kilometres from El Calafate, the Perito Moreno Glacier is the main attraction of Los Glaciares National Park. It is  the most representative image  of the park and the city.

This glacier has the privilege of being the most accessible of all glaciers to see, due to it is the only one that can be accessed through a perfectly adapted walkway system that allows a complete frontal view.

El Calafate is also the main tourist center of Santa Cruz, where there are many options and attractions to visit. In the last decades, what was a remote town of Patagonia today became a city close to 25 thousand inhabitants, with excellent hotels and services of all kinds.

It is unmissable to navigate Lake Argentino or to know other glacial formations from the Patagonian Ice Field (third largest glacier mantle on the planet, after the poles).

About the destiny

Day 1

Arrival at El Calafate international airport. Reception by our specialized team and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation at the selected hotel, in a room with adapted bathroom, and breakfast included. Rest of the day off.

Day 2

Breakfast and departure from El Calafate, bordering the southern margin of Lake Argentino, passing at the beginning of the tour by Round Bay where it can observe a great variety of birds. During the first 40 km the Patagonian landscape is crossed, in order to then enter the Los Glaciares National Park where the typical Andean-Patagonian forest vegetation predominates. Once on the glacier, we headed towards the main balcony. Then, visit the area  thought adapted  catwalks freely, until the meeting schedule agreed with the guide. The catwalks offer, from their viewpoints, different perspectives of the glacier enjoying this incredible natural spectacle. For lunch, the Park has a service area with a restaurant and a snack bar. In addition, visitors can complement this excursion with a navigation (optional one hour) near the walls of the glacier, allowing to appreciate the height of its front. Return to the hotel in El Calafate.

Day 3

Breakfast and departure for the River of Ice excursion. Departure from the hotel, and travel 40 km to Punta Bandera where  we  will embark on a catamaran suitable for wheelchairs. The ship departe  at 9 o'clock. The first part of

the route crosses the Boca del Diablo, the narrowest section of the lake. Then, it goes to the Upsala Channel and the Spegazzini Channel where we can see, at the end of each one, the respective glaciers (they are the largest and the highest in

all glaciers of the National Park). The navigation takes place between spectacular icebergs of enormous size and varied forms. The boats have very good heating and it is only necessary to go on deck if you want to take pictures from the outside. return to the hotel in El Calafate

Day 4

Breakfast. At the scheduled time, transfer to El Calafate airport.

When is the best time to visit El Calafate?

The best time to visit El Calafate is in spring, summer and fall, between the months of September to April.

El Calafate is located in southern Patagonia, the climate is cold and dry throughout the year and in the summer months, especially in January and February, the temperature is more pleasant, averaging 13 degrees. In addition, summer is the time of the greatest rupture; therefore, during these months it is the high season and it is advisable to book in advance.

During spring and autumn (October, November, December, March, April) are also good times to visit El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, as they combine greater tranquility and better prices.
