Salvador is the capital of Bahia, a state known for its natural beauty, the kindness of its people, and the strong influence of African culture.

The swing of capoeira, a martial art that is more like a dance, the aromas and flavors of delicacies, religious syncretism and cultural miscellany are samples of the joy of a people it knows, perhaps because it is surrounded by natural beauty The city is also home to one of the liveliest and most disputed carnivals in the country.

The first capital of Brazil preserves an important historical center, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site: the Pelourinho, which offers visits to several Brazilian Baroque churches and secular mansions.

Salvador has more than 300 churches. One of them is the Church of São Francisco, which stands out for its grandeur. Another important point is the Church of Senhor do Bonfim, one of the greatest symbols of the fusion of religions in Bahia.

In Salvador, Catholicism coexists closely with African religions, uniting Iemanjá with Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Iansã with Santa Bárbara, Senhor do Bonfim and Oxalá. African culture is also present in music and dance, such as capoeira.

Ingredients of African origin also predominate in the kitchen, such as palm oil, coconut milk, ginger and pepper. Acarajé, caruru and vatapá are typical dishes of international fame, which can be tasted on the baianas trays.
