The wheelchair must remain under the control of the assistants throughout the activity.

Do not enter the sea when conditions are dangerous or when beach signs, warning flags or local authorities indicate that swimming is not recommended or is prohibited.

Even when swimming is permitted, waves, currents and other local conditions should always be assessed before entering the water.

Is assistance required to use the amphibious wheelchair?

Yes. The wheelchair should not be used independently.

A minimum of two assistants is required to operate the wheelchair. They should coordinate movement and maintain control of the chair, particularly when it is being used in the water.

The standard Turismo Acessível service includes rental of the amphibious wheelchair only.

If required, you can also ask about additional beach assistance, subject to availability and an additional charge.

Does the rental include a life jacket?

Yes. Turismo Acessível provides the following equipment with the rental:

• 1 Class III (C3) life jacket, approved by the Brazilian Navy, size G, indicated for users weighing between 55 kg and 110 kg (approximately 121–243 lb);
• 2 foam flotation noodles.

These items are provided as additional flotation equipment for use in the water.

The life jacket and flotation noodles do not replace the need for assistance. The amphibious wheelchair must be handled by at least two assistants, especially when entering or remaining in the water.

Please note that the AUCA wheelchair has a maximum user weight capacity of 120 kg, while the life jacket provided is indicated for users weighing up to 110 kg.
